Trunk Highway 57 Reconstruction

HIGHWAY 57 UPDATE (8.18.22)
For access to Houston Greenhouse / Carriage House vet clinic.. Please use either 7th St NE/NW and go north through the barricades to access these 2 businesses for the next few days. All others can still be accessed from 11th St NE.  The reason is due to man holes being placed in this intersection/area of the road.

Hwy 57 closure from 7th St. NE to 11th St. NE begins July 25

Hwy 57 has been closed from 1st St. NE to south of 7th St. NE since May and will remain closed through October. The
other part of the Hwy 57 project area from 7th St. NE to 11th St. NE will be closed from July 25 through October.

Northbound traffic will continue to use the same detour through October:
•    Turn left on Co. Rd. 34 (Co. Rd. 34 turns into 8th Ave. SW/ Co. Rd. 21)
•    Turn right on Co. Rd. 12 which takes motorists back to Hwy 57
•    Hwy 57 traffic traveling south will use the same detour in reverse

Northbound pedestrian detour from 1st St. NE to 7th St. NE through October:
•    Turn left on West Main St.
•    Turn right onto 1st Ave. NW
•    Turn right on to 7th St. NW which takes pedestrians to Hwy 57
•    Pedestrians going south will use the same detour in reverse
From July 25 through October, pedestrians will have access on either the east or west side of Hwy 57 from 7th St. NE to just north of 11th St. NE depending on the construction schedule.

Businesses, destinations remain accessible along Hwy 57 in Kasson
Access to businesses at north end of construction zone.
Hwy 57 detour

As construction has moved northward along Highway 57 in Kasson, it closes the road to through traffic, but you are still able to access businesses along the route.

Follow the detour signs and the signs designating the routes to these businesses.

For instance, if you are traveling to Dollar General, Carriage House Veterinarian or Houston Green House, you can reach these businesses by traveling south on Highway 57 from the north end by the schools.

If you are traveling from the south end of Kasson, look for the detour signs as you drive north and approach the intersection with Main Street. Follow the signs for Kasson-Mantorville schools. At 11th St. NE near the fairgrounds, you'll see directional signs pointing you west on 5th Avenue to travel past the ice arena.
Hwy 57 detour 1
At that point, there are road closed signs, but you will also see an opening that's left in the barricades for you to drive onto the dirt road. You are allowed to do so and this will allow you to reach these businesses.  Always follow the detour signs and business direction signs for the safest route to reach your destination.

Hwy 57 ped crossing
Pedestrian crossing to reach the swimming pool

People may cross Highway 57 at 7th St. NW, the traditional crossing area for kids and others to reach the swimming pool. The crossing is designated and safe.
As work continues be alert to any changes in pedestrian or bike crossing.
Thank you again for helping make this a safe project to improve the road and the city infrastructure.
